CoreControl App for HTC One X

Recently XDA-Developers have developed an app similar to SetCPU app (that is used to control android device CPU) for the quad-core HTC One X. This app dubbed CoreControl is created by Meltus- one of the key developers of XDA-Developers Team.
The app lets you to control the number of active cores at a time in HTC One X and hence provide the battery life of the phone you desire. Root access is a pre-requisite and the app will be simply closed forcibly on an un-rooted device.

It provides you with lots of choices beyond just how many cores (as shown in the screenshot) are running at a time. By using it, you can set different profiles, and each profile lets you to set how many cores will run based on the following factors:
  • You can set a profile that will change how many cores are running based on battery level.
  • You can set another profile to set the amount of running cores based on battery temperature.

To avoid starting the app manually at every boot, the app provides a nice feature which lets you to set the app to start automatically at every boot!

Since the app is being updated constantly by adding more and more features, it seems that the future updates will incorporate features like screen-off and charging profiles, provision of more colors to indicate battery temperature as it currently displays the temperature in red & green. Moreover, changes in layout may also be expected in near future.
As CoreControl is new in development and is improving with time, therefore at present it has some bugs but you don’t have to worry at all because the bugs rarely hinder the basic function of controlling the cores. The bug which has been experienced by the developer is related to revert back of a set profile to default settings. Meltus recommends installing an app called TegraStats to monitor active cores in order to have surety.
If you have a HTC One X, I suggest you to get CoreControl app from here and just give it a try!
