Facebook Messenger app features 'read receipts' and 'location tracking'

Facebook has recently updated its Messenger app for those which can’t repel the temptation of profile hopping on Facebook. This standalone Messenger app lets you to participate in conversation with your friends on Facebook by eliminating the usual disturbances. The company has updated its Messenger app for both the Android as well as iOS platforms in terms of looks and functionality to compete with other platforms.

To make the app more attractive, Facebook has introduced a unique concept of “read receipts” in the app. This feature simply allows you to see whether the messages you sent to your friends have been read or not, or the other way round. This may lead to that obstinate instant when you can no longer lie to those people whose messages you are deliberately ignoring by saying that I haven’t received or read your message. Moreover, a real-time typing indicator showing even the name of the person who is typing to you is also bundled with the package.
Facebook’s updated Messenger app made it very simple not only to locate your friends but to see the place from where the messages you received were originated on the app’s main screen, by using specific GPS coordinates which most of the modern smartphones provide.
Some users will like these features while others don’t since it reveals their privacy. Keeping the Privacy conscious users in mind, Facebook has provided the option to turn off the location tracking feature. However the message read/unread and received/not-received feature can’t be turned off!
Facebook plans to mount the new changes to the main app in the near future as well because the update hasn’t made its way to the main app yet.
